AUGUST 15-17, 2014
Please join us for the 6th annual CENTER OF THE WORLD FESTIVAL
as we celebrate the art of storytelling
and showcase the creative work of playwrights and songwriters
who are competing for grant prizes.
Audiences vote for the winners at the weekend performances
centered on social justice and ecological issues.
PROGRAM: Friday, August 15th, 7:30 – 10pm
6th Annual Center of the World Festival
Opening Ceremonies
followed by a cast of ‘characters’ who bring stories to life onstage.
Enjoy Chumash and other Native American legends, local folklore, tales to educate and inspire,
Plus stories just for fun.
Great entertainment for audiences of all ages.
PROGRAM: Saturday, August 16, 1:30 and 7:30pm
PLAYWRIGHT COMPETITION
Grant prizes for playwrights are awarded by audience vote.
Votes can be cast only by attending complete afternoon or evening presentation session.
A brief TOPICTALK will be conducted following each of the six 10-minute plays
giving the audience an opportunity to explore the nature of the offered topics.
Plays are performed by volunteer actor/readers, comprised of people from the local mountain communities.
PROGRAM: Sunday, August 17, 1 – 5pm
MUSIC (by Bands) – SONGWRITING COMPETITION – AWARDS – CLOSING CEREMONIES
Grant prizes for songwriters are awarded by audience vote.
Votes can be cast only by attending complete one-hour songwriting presentation session.
A brief TOPICTALK will be conducted following each song
giving the audience an opportunity to explore the nature of the lyric’s topic.
